As I understand it, a handful of people tried to contact the owner of the
http://www.yabbforum.com/ domain without any success. Ideally, under the circumstances, ownership of that domain would have transfered to Dandello. Or at the very least, a simple forwarding of that domain could have been done.
I tried that too, unsuccessfully. I used to get along well with JonB. I was a moderator in the Yabbforum myself, but I almost only looked after the German members. I was always able to help quickly here. Suddenly the Yabb forum was closed. I never found out a reason. Dandello also holds back. But I think she doesn't know anymore either. Be that as it may, we cannot change it. Only Dandello can keep YaBB alive. She won't do it. What for? YaBB 2.7 is actually almost finished. I just think she did too much. In my opinion, incorporating mods from the zip file would not have been necessary. But it would be nice if she would adapt the mods, especially those from XTC, to 2.6.12. You can no longer upload YouTube films. Media doesn't work. I actually see a further development to 2.7 as unnecessary if these remaining bugs from 2.6.12 were to be fixed.
I removed some bugs from 2.6.12 myself and reported about them. YaBB runs very stable on my server. When I wanted to install it on Bluehost I found that I couldn't do the forum settings in the admin center. I have to check whether I did something wrong or whether I can only make the changes after the installation. That's also the reason why Normp's forum is currently running on my server. But I will find the error very quickly, even though I'm not a coder. But you can see that every server works differently. But it is also possible that Normp's server is Asbach-Uralt (that's what a cognac is called in Germany). But you don't have to understand that now. Debian and Perl are totally outdated, but an upgrade is not possible because it is a V server. You don't have root access. That can also be a reason. V servers are cheap, but nothing is being done about them.
Because of the arrogance within the YaBB forum, I can also report a lot. It's a good thing I never was and am not like that. Well, if I asked someone to restore a forum and the owner then messed with me, I would get pissed too. I also sometimes forgot about my good childhood home.
We probably don't need to talk about SQL anymore. The advantages and disadvantages are now known. Just a tip: never exceed the limit, this can end badly during a restoration.
