I will need to re-configure the backup server as I was using it to test separating BoardMod, The Codex and YaBBForum The primary server is a rackmount, so I can't just run off to Best Buy or Staples and pickup an Antec VP450 (sadly). I need a dead match PS. This is NOT going to be an instant fix... I think I will have the backup server working tomorrow sometime. I do have current backups of everything. IP Logged

I actually have 4 ready spares for that series (which I used). IP Logged

Even an old WinXP computer could be a sit-in and host a static page with basic info including that the site is under maintenance? Just a thought that it might be better to see that than to get nothing. Florida Classics and Muscle Car Automotive Forum Administrator WWW IP Logged

The 'problem' with just bringing it up, revolves around the fact that it was being used to test a new configuration for YaBB forum - so all its vhosts & data were wrong. Fully restoring a server from piecemeal backups is a big job. There isn't any elegant way to do it absent a bare-metal backup. The Communicator is restored, but can't be brought back on line until another task completes. It takes over an hour to extract a YaBB forum form a tar.gz backup because of the huge number of files. Mirroring is an even more complicated task. However, I already know how to do it AND it requires access to Zoneedit. IP Logged

I'm going to update all the YaBB's to 2.6.11 before I restore them (and eat lunch). They are all there and working - but need updating. There is no BoardMod showing there as it was in its own container (that is what I was working on - multiple FTP). IP Logged

"I" am freaking toast at this point. BoardMod will have to be restored after I get a complete backup of the server and re-jigger what i de-jiggered a week or so ago.. Edited: Someone should probably check me and make usre everything is right... IP Logged

I have a bare metal of my server, but need to keep it updated. I keep a daily backup (7 versions) of my IIS (inetpub) folder and can copy it to a spare box and have it running in a matter of hours. As long as its a computer or infrastructure that I have control lover, ie, in my house. Florida Classics and Muscle Car Automotive Forum Administrator WWW IP Logged
