There is a new obfuscation tool on the internet: so-called RES proxies (Residential proxies). What do these proxies do? Any IP address can become a RES proxy. I won't go into too much detail here, but if you find that your website is inaccessible and you are seeing an unusually high number of visitors, you have likely fallen victim to these proxies. Blocking them via the firewall is pointless, as an IP acting as a RES proxy today might not be one tomorrow. There are ways to protect yourself to some extent, provided you operate your own dedicated server and have root access.

1.) Route your nameservers through a service like Cloudflare.
2.) Install Cloudflare Turnstile.
3.) Install the RES proxy filter from https://www.ip2location.com. You will need to register for this. The "Lite" filter is free and perfectly adequate; however, it must be updated regularly.

If anyone is affected, I can provide a quick guide for setting up the filter. It isn't difficult, but root access is required.

You will need to set up Turnstile yourself, as it requires two API keys, one of which is secret. Cloudflare provides instructions for this on their website.

es gibt ein neues Verschleierungstool im Internet. Die sogenannten RES-Proxys. (Wohnort-Proxys). Was können diese Proxys? Jede IP kann zu einem RES-Proxy werden. Ich möchte das jetzt nicht weiter ausweiten. Wenn ihr feststellt, das eure Webseite nicht erreichbar ist und ihr eine ungewöhnlich hohe Anzahl an Besuchern habt, dann seid ihr Opfer von diesen Proxys geworden. In der Firewall zu blockieren ist sinnlos, denn was heute ein RES-Proxy ist, muß es morgen nicht mehr sein. Es gibt Möglichkeiten sich davor einigermaßen zu schützen, Voraussetzung, ihr betreibt einen eigenen dedizierten Server und habt Rootrechte.

1.) Rootet eure Nameserver über z.B.: Cloudflare.
2.) Installiert von Cloudflare-Turnstille.
3.) Installiert von https://www.ip2location.com den RES-Proxy-Filter. Dazu müßt ihr euch registrieren. Der leichte Filter ist kostenlos und reicht vollkommen aus. Er muß regelmäßig aktualisiert werden.

Sollte jemand betroffen sein mache ich für den Filter eine Kurzanleitung. Es ist nicht schwer, aber Rootrechte sind Voraussetzung.

Turnstile müßt ihr selber hinbekommen, da dafür zwei API-Schlüssel erforderlich sind und einer davon ist geheim. Es gibt dafür auf der Seite von Cloudflare eine Anleitung.
