JonB is still hard at work getting YaBBForum squared away including a simpler front end until he gets a proper CMS system in place for the Codex. We're hoping to have the YaBBForum section back on line in the very near future.  Smiley

YaBBForum.com is back online (many thanks to JonB's hard work in getting it back on a stable server.)

Getting it moved over to 2.6.0 is in the works.

YaBBForum is having issues due to being under attack (again). JonB is working on getting the bad guys blocked and has made some suggestions for additional anti-spambot protocols in the errorlog section.

Yabbforum.com is NOT down. It has a DNS problem.  I don't have access to the Domain Controls, so there is ZIP, NADA, ZERO I can do to fix it instantly.  I had sent numerous e-maisl & messages to Corey C, warning him this might happen, as our DNS servcies provider had been sold.

Temporarily - you could add a line to your hosts file.  BUT I can't post it apparently

Good Luck & Sorry.

IF you want to use the resources while this is getting sorted, add this to your hosts file:

YaBBForum is not responding. I know that JonB's building has had power problems in the  recent past (transformer fires, etc.)

I need to replace the UPS that powers my cable modem and router. Was wondering why my connection was dropping from time to time. I get power flickers all the time down here.

A PoE?  What else is he running there? I have a Cisco 24 port 10/100 he can have. Not using it anymore and always worked like a champ for me.

JonB handles all the IT stuff for the building his office is in. So he needs a LOT of throughput.

The Server is up for now, but it can't sustain a load, so I have put everything in Maintenance.  I will need to re-configure the backup server as I was using it to test separating BoardMod, The Codex and YaBBForum

The primary server is a rackmount, so I can't just run off to Best Buy or Staples and pickup an Antec VP450 (sadly). I need a dead match PS.

This is NOT going to be an instant fix...  I think I will have the backup server working tomorrow sometime.

I do have current backups of everything.

To clarify something earlier, 'The Boy' and I were discussing a particular series of problematic Gigabit switches. I actually have 4 ready spares for that series (which I used).

Maybe a temporary re-direct of yabbforum.com could be used for problems of this nature? Even an old WinXP computer could be a sit-in and host a static page with basic info including that the site is under maintenance? Just a thought that it might be better to see that than to get nothing.   Undecided

There have been discussions of having a mirror - but all of that takes time.

We have a backup server and it is up and has been for several hours.

The 'problem' with just bringing it up, revolves around the fact that it was being used to test a new configuration for YaBB forum - so all its vhosts & data were wrong.

Fully restoring a server from piecemeal backups is a big job.   There isn't any elegant way to do it absent a bare-metal backup.

The Communicator is restored, but can't be brought back on line until another task completes.

It takes over an hour to extract a YaBB forum form a tar.gz backup because of the huge number of files.

Mirroring is an even more complicated task.  However, I already know how to do it AND it requires access to Zoneedit.

The Communicator is up now.

I'm going to update all the YaBB's to 2.6.11 before I restore them (and eat lunch). They are all there and working - but need updating. There is no BoardMod showing there as it was in its own container (that is what I was working on - multiple FTP).

The YaBBforum Community is now UPDATED to 2.6.11 and restored. The Codex is also working. "I" am freaking toast at this point. BoardMod will have to be restored after I get a complete backup of the server and re-jigger what i de-jiggered a week or so ago..

  Shocked

Edited:
Someone should probably check me and make usre everything is right...

Thank you for all your hard work. I have a bare metal of my server, but need to keep it updated. I keep a daily backup (7 versions) of my IIS (inetpub) folder and can copy it to a spare box and have it running in a matter of hours. As long as its a computer or infrastructure that I have control lover, ie, in my house.
