Knowingly taking this off-topic. I has occurred to me (not saying this too loudly, though) that YaBBForum's ISP may be working on a way to counter Net Neutrality. I doubt there's anything in the FCC's new rules that tell an ISP that they have to assign good IP addresses to their clients' modems/routers. So we could well be looking at CableTown and its ilk deciding to charge their business clients extra to get non-blacklisted IP addresses.

Just sayin'.

This is so true about the StopForumSpam site, although I still use it manually to do quick checks when new members register in our forum. Every once in a while a new member's IP address is listed as a spammer, but generally speaking they aren't; at least not in our forum.

In this case, the server is saying it's trying to send email to XTC but is getting timed out. This is not a YaBB problem. The email is being sent - it's just not getting received.

@Bill - the problem at YaBBForum is that the IP address the server has been assigned by its ISP is in a block that is actually blacklisted by StopForumSpam and other sites that have IP blacklists. The ISP in question knows this and is still doing this to hundreds, if not thousands of commercial accounts.

On one of my other forums I had to disable StopForumSpam because at least 50% of the IP addresses assigned to the mobile providers in the Los Angeles area are black-listed.

... had this issue (YaBMods) ...

I have this same issue with YaBB's BoardMod forum as well as its main forum, although people have joked with me that they think it's deliberate, i.e., it is not a YaBB problem.

I have no problem getting email notifications from this forum. If it helps, I should point out that I wasn't getting notifications for this topic, but as it turned out, I didn't actually have it turned on, i.e., my bad.

From my perspective, I think the blocking of YaBB's email notifications is due to the way various hosts deal with automated forum messages, particularly as they are associated with certain domains for whatever reasons; not the forum's software. At least that's been my experience as I've tested my thinking on this.

As such, what's pretty much always worked for me, and members in our forum who've been affected by this is to use an alternative email address specifically for forums that is forwarded to a preferred email address. This can be hit and miss depending on what email service is used. But once it's successfully set up, you're good to go, and email notifications can be enjoyed.

According to the email trace utility, starting at sometime between Jan 31 and Feb 9, the connection to your email server started timing out. I'll PM you the Delivery Attempt Details

I'm not seeing anything in YaBB (and as far as I know there's no way to block outgoing email notifications to specific email domains within YaBB).

I'll check later today for if the SMTP server is showing errors or issues.
