General Board - YaBB Development & Mods en-us YaBB Development & Mods Tue, 18 Jan 2022 04:30:27 GMT YaBB 2.7.00 Revision: 2044 30 2.6.11 Edit Post Bug Resolution YaBB Development & Mods/general Sun, 2 May 2021 14:18:30 GMT
Didn't seem to be a clear place for bug reports on old revisions, so I figured I'd just post it here and let you move it if necessary.

I updated from 2.5AE to 2.6.11 a while back. In doing so, the ability to edit posts broke - no one, not even mods or admins, can modify a post. While it has made for some amusing incidents, it is a bit of a pain. Well, eventually, one of my members got sick of it, did some debugging, and identified the issue. I'm reporting it here in case it has not been found yet.

In cgi-bin/yabb2/Sources/, around line 766, a closing curly brace was put in the wrong location. This makes it so that if attachments are disabled, edited posts are not saved/posted. Here is the before/after:

-- BEFORE --
***Go to Post to see Code***

-- AFTER ---
***Go to Post to see Code***

As an aside, I noticed that the lines of interest are the only ones with tabs in that file. Go figure it was a dirty tabber who introduced this terrible bug! Why Perl Mongers don't play with mySQL YaBB Development & Mods/general (Dandello) Sun, 10 Jan 2021 12:41:02 GMT Off-Topic replies have been moved to this Topic. HTML and Border question YaBB Development & Mods/general (Dandello) Tue, 11 Feb 2020 01:27:31 GMT No, styling the tables aren't a feature of 2.7 either. What I recommend for recipes is to use lists, or (probably better) links to pdf files with a short description in the message.
Merry Christmas Day YaBB Development & Mods/general (Rucola) Mon, 25 Dec 2017 04:52:38 GMT my favorite song

Interesting Articles YaBB Development & Mods/general (Henry Hislop) Thu, 30 Nov 2017 06:41:22 GMT password should be strong such that none will crack it and you will never forget it too Guest post test YaBB Development & Mods/general Fri, 6 Oct 2017 20:29:31 GMT Sir Charles wrote on Oct 5th, 2017 at 5:46pm:

Test test test test test test

Captcha test Help wanted YaBB Development & Mods/general (Dandello) Sat, 15 Oct 2016 21:28:26 GMT The Compress::Bzip2 module used in Backup is deprecated and I can't get the recommended replacement (IO::Compress::Bzip2) to work for the archive tar section of backups.

So if a patient someone with a good grasp of IO could work on this, that would be greatly appreciated.
Delays YaBB Development & Mods/general (Dandello) Tue, 11 Oct 2016 06:30:12 GMT Win knows when files are open - but more research needs to be done on how(if) Windows actually locks files - the word processors seem to use a 'flag' file. (Which makes for interesting issues if you don't close the file on a flashdrive before transferring the flashdrive to another computer. ) Interesting perl issues causing problems YaBB Development & Mods/general (Dandello) Sat, 8 Oct 2016 15:00:37 GMT The big one at the moment - a lot of variables in YaBB use zeros to designate 'position' or if something is turned off - which is fine if something is turned off and it only matters if the value is on or off but not so fine when you need to check if that variable actually has a true value (which is good practice) and perl knows that 0 is not a true value.

Checking in, and largely checking out YaBB Development & Mods/general (Bill Myers) Wed, 13 Jul 2016 17:07:39 GMT The Verification Code anti-spam option you've enabled here in this forum is superb, and older versions of YaBB can hand edit a primitive version of it that works just fine. I've used the primitive version for a 2.4 forum for years that allows instant registrations, and it's worked like a charm.
