	the German files were not uploaded correctly. I find again error, which actually should not exist and do not exist in my test forum. As a guest I have the opportunity to switch to German_Du, but it is actually switched to English. Then I go to the log on my profile, German_Du does not exist. The fault is not in my translations, they have not been uploaded correctly.

	Enclosed the German help files. My Board staff have removed hundreds of spelling errors. It was a disaster. For your next version I'm going to completely rework again.

	I have found the error. Two mods were incorporated that were never recorded in the SVN in the footer. So I could not see them.

	The two extra mods went in in preparation of releasing 2.6.1 probably at the end of July ( or when JonB gets out from under his piles and piles of work).

	Build 1519 Up to four mods I was able to install all the mods that I need personally (32 pieces) without problems in Build 1519. The adjustment was not an issue. Were really only line spacing, and the usual as always.

	It's possible it was a temporary block due to overload from a bank of IP addresses or something else happening on Orangoo's server.

	I've set up for testing a new YaBB forum. It may be that there is a problem in the German language files in conjunction with the profile options. If i set the German language, it's impossible to save new settings in profile options, and contact information. The options, PN settings and admin area, however works. If i change to the English language version all options works and saving is possible. Is this possibly known?

	Mahlzeit, ich schreibs einfach noch mal in Deutsch. Meine Spracheinstellung als Admin ist Deutsch (Nur Du Version). Geh ich jetzt ins Profil und ändere z.Bsp. der Geburtsdatum und/oder das Geschlecht oder das Passwort oder den Wohnhort und will dann speichen bekomme ich die Systemmeldung das ich nicht berechtigt dazu bin. Selbiges auch in den Kontaktoptionen. Im Profil Admin Optionen und den PN Einstellungen hingegen sind Änderungen und speichern möglich. Wechsele ich mal komplett in die engliche Sprache kann ich im gesamten Profil Änderungen vornehmen und speichern. Hoffe, ich konnte es deutlich rüberbringen

	I'm still not able to reproduce the problems you guys are describing. (I'm using an install of Build 1519, with German and German_Du packs installed. German_Du set as Admin's personal language.) Since the gender has been saved in the vars file, then it's the section that determines that the item has been selected that's not working for you. Possibly the actual dropdown in MyProfile.template has been altered. (The variable in question is mixed case - if that's been changed, the results aren't being read into where they need to be.)

	Hi Thomas, ich konnte alle Änderungen in German_Du durchführen und ohne Probleme. Nur das Geschlecht macht Probleme. Zieh dir mal Build1519 aus der SVN. Die deutschen Files sind bereits angepaßt und hier zu finden. Hi Thomas, I could make all changes in German_Du and without problems. Only the sex makes problems. Put on your times Build1519 from the SVN. 	I know that Pyragony's test site is heavily modded. Since I can't reproduce the problem on a non-modded test install, I'm wondering if there's a conflict with one of the mods that's keeping the chosen gender from showing as having been selected.

	Hi Guys, I've played a little bit around with the board settings and found the following. Is in the forum settings UTF-8 by default, the error described in the profile settings occurs. If ISO-8859-1 set, everything is ok. So is not a specific problem with the language files. For testing please set: Board Settings charset: UTF 8 Set User Language to german change profile settings example birthday und try to save.

	@ThM What charset is your German set to in Main.lng? Things happen when the default charset and the language pack charsets don't match. They match here and on my test installs (UTF-8). In theory we shouldn't see problems like that since Perl's internals are Unicode so ISO-8859-1 characters get 'converted' and what's in the vars files are pretty much stored in English which is pretty much charset neutral, but in practice, bad things happen.

	I think we need to make the warning about not mixing character encodings even stronger. I do have a YaBB language converter that can convert ISO-8869-1 encoded forums to UTF-8 (and it seems to do an okay job). BUT, mixed encoding forums like YaBB Forum don't do well with automatic conversion utiities - even Notepad++ chokes on some of the files there.

	I'm a little confused. Ok, there's a German language files in utf-8 and iso-8859-1. Why? If utf-8 is to be used, then why is there the German files also in iso-8859-1 format? Is it the same in English or any other language as well? And by the way. It should be gone by two German language files. One variant, namely German-You will do just fine. In no other language I've ever seen one exists two language version. Two translations makes too much work for one alone and is unnecessary. @dandello: I'm using the latest build version from this board .... build 1519 or so, don't know.. setting in main.lng = Code (Perl) $yycharset= 'ISO-8859-1'; I've changed the board settings from utf-8 to iso-8859-1. Now all works fine, but how xonder write, using different settings without errors on saving (User Profil settings) not possible. thanks for your hard work on the new yabb Greetings Thomas

	@ThM There is two versions of language packs for all languages except English... One for cases where there is only one language pack installed, and one for cases where there is multiple language packs installed. UTF-8 works best when there is multiple language packs with conflicting primary character encoding.

	To make things even more complicated - on a brand new forum even with multiple language packs, you can (and should) use UTF-8 for all of the Language Packs. (For instance here we've been all UTF-8 from the start.) Notepad++ does a pretty good job converting YaBB Language Packs. Support for the other encodings is for if you are upgrading an old forum that already has non-UTF-8 characters hiding in the various data files. Most all English forums can just change the encoding. It's the languages with the upper ASCII characters that have to have their data converted from ISO-1189-1 to UTF-8. Once we have a reliable converter that can handle things like YaBB Forum's ancient data, everything will go to UTF-8 and then Андрей will be able to read his name even when in not in Russian.

	This time we're going more carefully. We will get to a mySQL version but we want to get the rest of the big stuff handled first - refactored code, old bugs fixed, security essentials added. 3.0 also had some issues with what direction the Perl coding should take. There's been a push to go to the Object-Oriented model like Java and some other languages use. But the model tends to leave a lot of good coders just scratching their heads and saying "Heck no, I won't go!" I'm told that was one of the other problems that happened with 3.0 - some people were pushing for the OO model and other's didn't see any need for it with YaBB.

	Yes, they go to different items that have basically the same function as far as Referer Security is concerned. (Which is why, for 2.7.00, that whole process has been redone as it makes absolutely no sense to have those functions accessible from outside of YaBB.)

	Irgendwie scheint es mit yabb 2.6.12 und den Deutschen Dateien ein Problem zu geben. Sobald ich in mein Profil gehe um das Passwort zu ändern bekomme ich nach dem Speichern die Meldung "Du bist nicht berechtigt, diese Aktion auszuführen" (gilt nur für den Tab mit dem Passwort, die anderen Profilbereiche funktionieren) Wenn ich in meinem Profil die Sprache auf englisch umstelle funktioniert die Funktion mit dem Passwort ändern. Hat jemand eine Idee?

	Hmm, konnte das Problem selber lösen, nicht optimal, aber zumindest so, dass es funktioniert: Die deutschen Dateien habe ich unter Windows heruntergeladen und per SCP auf den Linuxserver übertragen. Dummerweise hatten die aber kein utf8-Format mehr. Und so hat die Option accept-charset=utf8 ein Problem erzeugt zwischen dem Text profile-txt(88) (kein echtes utf8) und dem in utf8 übertragenen Namen der Funktion "Änderungen speichern". Nach umstellen auf iso als charset ging es. Hat jemand eine Idee wie ich das sauber auch in utf8 hinbekomme? VG Larian

	It sounds like you opened the language files using something like Notepad or Word for Windows. In my experience both tend to convert UTF-8 encoded files as ANSI. I use Notepad++ for coding and language encoding. OR, if your server allows it, upload the German Zip to your server and unpack it there.
